Rhinoplasty, or nose-job, surgery can be one of the more invasive procedures performed. Patients are often surprised that healing and downtime is more lengthy than they expected.
Do’s:
• Take about a week off work
• Sleep upright to minimise swelling
• Prepare for the bruising, black eyes and swelling
Don’t’s:
• Have your surgery before a big event – everyone has different healing lengths, but time your rhinoplasty so you have plenty of time to give your body the best opportunity to recover and heal
• Don’t smoke – smoking inhibits the healing process, causing you to take longer than normal
• Avoid the sun – your skin will be more sensitive than normal
• Avoid heart-raising exercises – for the following 6 weeks, it’s advisable to not participate in any rigorous exercises that increases your heart rate
• Avoid bending down – the change in pressure can be advised against for the first 2 weeks post-op
