Over the course of a lifetime the delicate skin on our faces bears the brunt of everyday living; being exposed to the sun, cold weather and dust. The daily stresses we all encounter can cause the elasticity of our skin to sag.
For many people, this sagging is drastic enough to warrant full facelift surgery, but some may just require a simple enhancement. The liquid facelift is a non-surgical procedure that has been gaining in popularity across Australia.
The procedure
The liquid facelift works with a combination of anti-wrinkle and filler injections to restore natural looking volume and lift sagging skin. The procedure is relatively painless and takes about an hour. The face can be sculpted to define areas such as cheekbones and the jawline. Although this is a new procedure, Refine clinic has performed it many times.
The liquid facelift reduces facial wrinkles, creases and folds as well as masking bags under the eyes, to create an appearance of wider eyes. The collagen stimulant can be injected across the entire face or isolated to pre-determined areas.
Risks
There are far fewer risks involved with this procedure than with a traditional facelift or even a chemical peel. The lack of incisions to the skin means the possibility of contracting an infection is greatly reduced. As with all procedures, a mild risk of infection is a possibility, however your surgeon will give you instructions on how best to care for your face. Mild bruising is a possibility.
After the procedure
The liquid facelift is generally painless, as local anaesthetics are used to numb the face. The procedure takes little over an hour and patients can resume normal activities within a few days. This is a huge improvement on traditional surgical facelifts that can cause patients a recovery time of several weeks.
